The Phidelity is the elemental model that truly embodies the Solomon motto of simple elegance and refined form and function. This guitar is at once traditional and modern, and in the opinion of the maker is unmatchable for sound, durability and value.
The Phidelity model is acoustically superior to a comparable F-hole instrument because the critical vibrating surface of the lower bout is left intact and the bridge is placed at the center of percussion or “sweet spot” of the body, specific to an individual scale length. The most notable audible differences are an increased bass response, greater volume, and stronger attack with a more gradual onset of sound.
This model draws its inspiration from several schools of instrument making, especially classical guitar construction and violin theory and design. The application of Phi, or the divine proportion, that is found throughout nature and the universe has resulted in an instrument that is aesthetically pleasing, ergonomically correct, and acoustically brilliant. In addition to this combination, which is hard to improve on, it is also the most durable model and the least expensive, with prices starting at $4,927.00.
Several variations of this model are available to choose from, all feature an Oval or Round soundhole, a 3-strut “fan” bracing pattern, and a soundport on the side for added audibility for the player and better aspiration within the soundbox. A Cedar Creek Custom hard case is included in the base price. The Phidelity Standard features a 15.5” non cutaway body with a 3” side depth and a 25” scale fretboard.
The Phidelity Classic features a 15.5” non cutaway body with a 3 1/2” side depth and a 25.5” scale fretboard.
The Phidelity Grand Concert features a 16" non cutaway body with a 3 1/2" side depth and a 660mm (25.98”) scale fretboard.Several other options such as a slotted headstock, mahogany neck, Brazilian Rosewood or African Blackwood fretboard, and a slope shoulder cutaway are available.
